Yes, all the games I listed have been translated, although when it comes to Racing Lagoon only the prologue has been translated. I am a bit torn on what to do at this point. Of course, the community here is much smaller than it used to be, so we could just go all in for preservation and completion purposes. On the other hand, in the meantime, the database will be filled with a lot of games that are unplayable for most people, and the database created here has so far been pointed towards usefulness and according to the old guidelines from "The HyperSpin Project". Eventually all of them will probably be translated. All Japanese exclusives and those with significant differences compared to the Western releases should ideally be added. I'll go through them all and choose the best version for the doubles. When it comes to the artwork you have collected, do you still have the high-res cover scans for PS1 Japan that were used for your project? I just gave myself several years of wheel creating to go through unless we get some help. I don't have as much free time now as I had back then, but I still think that we could get a lot of work done. I miss the chat that was here back then, it was good for instant communication, we will need a platform like that. We could restart the collaboration we had years ago when we started this database if you are interested. I suggest excluding re-releases and compilations that exists as stand-alone games and only including the Japanese exclusives unless there are fundamental differences between the different regions. That settles it then, this project is now directed towards including everything, but some barriers still should be set for the database. Your PS1 cover project was indeed a monumental task, and it is future proof. Daphne, Mame and Model 2 are also on the same wheel as well. I haven't exactly followed the rules either when it comes to my own system, I have NES, Famicom and the post-Soviet Dendy on the same wheel. Since 90% of them have left, I suppose it is reasonable for us to reinvent the rules. That was my thought from the beginning too, everything should be added, but when I first joined here the rules were already set by the established hierarchy here. We won't have all the time in the world to create artwork and videos for that game that was translated or discovered as playablewhen it doesĪctually, if you think about it, we should have covered all regions since the beginning, it's a pain adding one new entry in the database, box, cart, CD, logo and video. Meaning it has all versions of games released outside of Japan and back, hundreds of exclusives, kids, girly, pachinko, simulation, adventure, software and so on.įollowing the rules of adding what's playable for non Japanese speakers would totally hurt that project. This pack has possibly 99% of all Japanese PS1 games covered. It was a monumental task, almost half the artwork had no spines so we figured a way to add the game name in Japanese when needed. I believe you already checked the work I did with robin from Launchbox in 2019, without his expertise, it would fail. There are a few more to come, as I go through the last additions in my database.
