![]() My advice would be to just stand still and behave so as to not chance any involvement. I've seen people very badly treated by them, and on one occasion badly assaulted by a very poorly behaved, and what appeared to be a very untrained security guard. The only downside is the security guards can be 'questionable' sometimes. You also normally get to see a few local bands in the early part of the gig before the headliner, and most of those are also really good. All of the gigs were great, and very inexpensive for the caliber of the bands that were performing. I've seen many gigs here, STP, Extreme, Blackberry Smoke, Buckcherry, Drop Kick Murphy's, Offspring, and many more. Having said that, I think the place is great, because it gives people a chance to see good live music, for an inexpensive price, and it gives up and coming bands a place to showcase their talents. This is an old style music venue, one bar, one huge standing area in front of the stage, no seating, and a small merchandise area for bands to sell their stuff. I think that the Marquee would do well to find a way to hire more diligent security in the future. They need to be at all points of the line, making sure that some order is maintained. When the crowd is a bunch of teens, there need to be babysitters. I know there were some injured and sick from the mob, and there was no need for it. I have been to venues twice this size and some 50 times this size, and the security has never been this lackadaisical. Luckily, but barely, we were able to stay together. As a result, for 30 minutes we were stuck in a crush of people so packed that I couldn't even look down at my feet. There was only one directive the whole time – a lame, “back up!” by one security guard who never followed through in organizing the crowd. At about 6:30 pm, suddenly everyone rushed the doors, and it didn't matter if you got there 4 hours early or 4 days early you were at the mercy of the crowd. ![]() As did many, we arrived early – about 4 hours early – in order to be among the first to get in and get good spots. I frequently attend concerts with my daughters and their friends, and have never had this bad of an experience with the line and admission process. With that said, I have never seen a security detail as poorly run as the one at the Marquee for the 1975 concert on. The Marquee as a venue is unique, intimate and really an enjoyable place to see a concert.
